In recent years, Amazon has become my “go to” for online shopping. I almost always check there before visiting any other retailer website, and chances are, I’ll find what I want at a very competitive price. In my experience, service is outstanding and the selection can’t be beat.

Imagine my excitement when I recently learned with a few clicks, I could set up my account so that every time I shop, AmazonSmile will make a donation to a charity that is important to me! 

How Does It Work?

Each time you shop, point your browser to http://www.smile.amazon.com The selection, service, and prices are exactly the same as what you’re used to, but there’s a twist. When you shop using this URL, Amazon will donate a portion of the total sale to your favorite charitable organization.

You will log in with the same account you’ve always used, but the first time you visit smile.amazon.com, you will be asked to designate a charity. This information will be stored so that any future eligible purchases will result in a donation to the organization you selected! It’s that easy!

There are almost one million 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations to choose from, and the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible purchases. Millions of eligible products are identified with a special insignia.

When I did a search using just the word “Alzheimer’s,” I was presented with a list of literally hundreds of organizations, at both the national and local level. Here is just a small sampling:
