LTC Insurance – Sharing a Free Resource

The folks from LTCFacts.org commented on my recent Caregiver’s piece regarding Long Term Care Insurance, and I thought it worth sharing their URL.

According to the information on the site, it is not endorsed or sponsored by, or affiliated with, an insurance company. It exists to educate consumers on long-term care insurance. While you can use this site to request quotes, compare companies, and reach out to a producer, I’m including it as a resource here simply because it appears to be chock full of information. At LTCFacts.org, you can find LTC definitions, LTC articles, state specific information, and it provides an email page for you to  ask questions.

The following statement was taken directly from the website, regarding contributing producers:

We partner with only those long-term care insurance specialists that are committed to educating consumers and helping them shop for the best long-term care insurance product that meets their individual needs.

Thoughts on Long-Term Care Insurance

21 Monday Jan 2013

sunsetToday on Caregivers, some thoughts on long-term care insurance: Long-Term Care Insurance: This Caregiver is a Believer.

As I mention in the piece, long-term care insurance was never really on my radar. I’d never had a reason to think about it. And then my mom got sick, eventually needing long-term care. Who knew what an costly proposition this could be. We were in for the shock of a lifetime, and let’s face it, care for a loved one is not something you want to skimp on…

LTC insurance really is something that everyone should consider. You can’t give your family a better gift than peace of mind.

Here is a fantastic educational opportunity for Central Ohioans – The Central Ohio Alzheimer’s Association’s Monthly “First Fridays Club” begins in February.

It’s your chance to hear physicians and other subject matter experts discuss topics of interest to caregivers. Our friends at the Central Ohio ALZ Association even provide respite care during the luncheon and lecture!

February’s luncheon is a caregiver panel discussion.

“Planning, Coping with Stress and the Importance of Staying Connected”

Friday, February 1st, 2013
Time: 11:30-1:00PM

Location: The Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 N. High Street, Worthington, OH, 43085

The cost for the lunch and lecture is $5.00. The cost for professionals requiring CEU’s is $10.00

*Bring your loved one living with dementia to our respite program called “The Club.” The Club meets during the education lecture to provide an opportunity for socialization, activities and entertainment for individuals living with memory loss.*

Please call to register for the lecture and The Club

For more information or to register please contact The Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900.

In March, Dr. Donald Freidenberg (my mom’s neurologist) will talk about differentiating between dementia and normal aging. He’s a fascinating speaker.

All of the info you need is included below; registration is required and there is a $5 fee for each month’s event ($10 for professionals needing CEU credits). Please share this with anyone who might find it useful. Each month offers a new topic.
