Jess and I are enjoying a couple of days in Chicago, relaxing and celebrating all that we have to be grateful for. Thanksgiving reminds us that no matter what’s going on, there is always an abundance to give thanks for. This week, it only seemed appropriate to focus on blessings with my Caregivers piece…
Wishing everyone a blessed holiday…

Talking with her little buddy…
Yep, I said it. Today was a good day. I spent the afternoon with mom and she was in the best state I’ve seen in awhile. When I got there, she was up, sitting at the table eating. She’d had a few crackers, some grapes, and two glasses of juice. Earlier, half a piece of toast and part of a banana. PLUS, two Ensures.

That silly lady we know and love…
Both docs blessed d/c’ing the blood pressure meds and the beta blocker, so there should be a notable improvement in her bp. They’ll monitor it daily just in case it does shoot up higher than it should be. I doubt that will be the case, but I’ve been wrong a million times before.
If I recall correctly, she had lorazepam twice yesterday – it was a pretty bad day. Today she’d had one, and the bad imaginary people she’s been yelling at were apparently replaced by nice imaginary people with whom she was having a jolly good time! SO great seeing her laugh. Sure as hell beats the alternative.
Late this afternoon, she did have a rough spell, but when I left she looked comfortable and was falling asleep in the recliner. It was a fairly busy day for her. Emily came for lunch, then I spent the afternoon, Jess visited, Baby Nico was there, Tim was there for awhile… a lot of commotion, and she did really well.
I was afraid to say it earlier for fear of jinxing us, but I think we are good to go for Chicago. I have to be honest… I am SO looking forward to getting away from everything for a few days. I’m extremely thankful that we can do this!
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Remember to enjoy every moment and hug the ones you love…
