Several weeks ago, I did a post on elder abuse. Today, a fellow blogger shared this post with me. With her permission, I’m sharing the link here because people need to hear stories like this firsthand and understand that these things happen every day.
Absolutely horrible, terribly unpleasant to think about… can’t even imagine that another human being could be so cruel… Bottom line, though, unless we have the conversation – rather than sweeping the problem under the rug – it will continue.
Kudos to this family for sharing their story.
Dear Ann,
Thank you for taking the time to share my family’s story with your readers. Your support and kind words have helped us during this highly emotional time, and the continued prayers, good thoughts, lighted candles… whatever it is that each of you do to offer long-distance support… they all mean so very much to us, and to everyone who has had to go through this terrible ordeal. We thank you and appreciate everything. Thank you for your help with spreading awareness of this awful crime.
With Gratitude and Appreciation,
Mrs. O.’s Granddaughter

Thank you for sharing , there are way to many certified to do these jobs but in no way qualified ! I was a CNA years ago n I treated all my residents as if they were my own family n how I would hope someone would care for mine .
I have an Autistic grandson starting school next yr I have the same fear with those who are trusted to care for him ) :

I couldn’t agree more – I’ll just never understand how anyone could take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state. So sad, and infuriating. Thank you for commenting and for your work as a CNA. I don’t like to generalize, but in my experience, there just aren’t enough *really* good aides out there, especially in the larger facilities.
Best,
Ann
