In March, Dr. Donald Freidenberg (my mom’s neurologist) will talk about differentiating between dementia and normal aging. He’s a fascinating speaker.

All of the info you need is included below; registration is required and there is a $5 fee for each month’s event ($10 for professionals needing CEU credits). Please share this with anyone who might find it useful. Each month offers a new topic.

Wise Mr. Frost

frostLong ago, poet Robert Frost offered this pearl of wisdom:

In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: It goes on.  ~Robert Frost

Truer words have never been spoken. Life does keep moving forward, regardless of what else is going on – or not going on. One day this, the next day that. Some changes are subtle and some are more extreme, but they are all changes nonetheless. Not a single person on this earth is exempt from having to cope, adjust, and sometimes wonder why….

In November, Johns Hopkins implanted the device into the brain of the sixth patient to become part of an Alzheimer’s trial.

Similar treatments are already being used for Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. While the brain pacemaker is not expected to reverse Alzheimer’s, the hope is that it could provide symptom relief over time.

Obviously, there is much work to be done, but this is something to keep an eye on in the coming years. A spark of hope…
