Update:  And the winner is….

Watch your inbox for an email, Opal! Congratulations!

Earlier this evening, I glanced over at my phone and noticed I had a text message. Little did I know, that simple text contained a gift that would mean the world to me. A friend had taken some photos from Facebook, and created these amazing double and triple exposure images…

Mom smiling down on me…

They touched me so deeply, literally taking my breath away. I sat here and cried.

The fact that Christy thought to do this really spoke volumes. It reminds me that we all have the capacity to make a real difference to another human being. And we should do that when the opportunity presents itself. Because it matters…

Three generations…

As a way of paying it forward, I’d like to give away a copy of Elizabeth Lonseth’s book, A Gradual Disappearance. If you would like to enter the drawing, please leave a comment on this post. I’ll choose one random winner a week from tomorrow.

By now, you’ve likely heard about Seth Rogen’s testimony last week before the Senate Committee on Appropriations. As Rogen spoke about how Alzheimer’s has personally affected his family, 16 of the 19 committee members were absent. That says a lot about the priorities of our elected representatives, doesn’t it?

Here is a list, with contact information, of the 16 Senators who were MIA. We need to let them know what we think about their lack of interest in this issue.

What is AmazonSmile?

In recent years, Amazon has become my “go to” for online shopping. I almost always check there before visiting any other retailer website, and chances are, I’ll find what I want at a very competitive price. In my experience, service is outstanding and the selection can’t be beat.

Imagine my excitement when I recently learned with a few clicks, I could set up my account so that every time I shop, AmazonSmile will make a donation to a charity that is important to me!

How Does It Work?

Each time you shop, point your browser to http://www.smile.amazon.com The selection, service, and prices are exactly the same as what you’re used to, but there’s a twist. When you shop using this URL, Amazon will donate a portion of the total sale to your favorite charitable organization. Continue reading
