Friends,
It seems there is a rather uneducated movie critic writing for the Lincoln, Nebraska, Journal Star! Clearly, he needs our help!
Columnist Kent Wolgamott wrote a piece about the Oscars, in which he referred to Still Alice as a “Depressing ‘Disease of the Week’ movie.”
I think we should help educate Mr. Wolgamott as to what the Alzheimer’s journey is really all about. Please join me in reaching out to him at any or all of the following:
- Email: kwolgamott@journalstar.com
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lkent.wolgamott?fref=ts
- Twitter: @LJSWolgamott
- Phone: 402-473-7244
I would also encourage you to let the Lincoln Journal Star know your thoughts on this article.

Quite honestly, I’m amazed something like this made it across an editor’s desk. Blatant disrespect for the millions of Americans dealing with Alzheimer’s every day of their lives. Shame on you Lincoln Journal Star!
wrote a comment on the article itself, shared on my Facebook page, and wrote on their Facebook page… completely unacceptable!

I wrote the publisher an email. My dad died of Alzheimer’s. No one knows unless you live it everyday

Sent him the following tweet “Saw your dismissal of Alzheimers as disease of the week. Way to insult 16 million sufferers/caregivers in USA alone!

Working on my email now……. can’t seem to find the words to get the point across as strongly as it needs to be made.

His twitter response is “disease of the week” refers to the film’s structure/genre – what a crock of shit! I have tweeted back with structure and genre 101 links 🙂 the paper should apologize…

I don’t care what he was “referring to” – it’s insensitive and I agree – both he and the paper should apologize and do something to promote Alzheimer’s awareness.

What rock has he been sleeping under?

Such ignorance! I lost my father to this horrible disease and am now seeing my brother going through the same thing. He’s only 61 and in stage 7. Such and insensitive jerk. Do your research!
