So true and well put, Ann. Thank you for all you do to bring attention to the Alzheimer’s epidemic facing us. My mother was not a solid support for me (a rock), but she was my mom and all you have said still stands. Mom was smart and loved her intellect and her degrees. She could still read out loud long after she lost the meaning of the words. Her slow mental and physical decline was terrifying for her and an eye-opener for me. I’d been around Alzheimer’s before with a grandma, but not as a caregiver watching the slow stripping away of a human being until nothing is left but a heartbeat, the breath, and a swallow reflex. Sigh…
Thanks for this Ann just what I needed this morning to help me find the way on the next stage of our journey. Can’t believe that I hadn’t found you before!
